US National Adaptive Abilities Teams – PAGE FOR REVIEW, NOT PUBLIC

Are you interested in representing the Red White and Blue? Are you an inclusive competitive abilities team? USA Cheer is accepting applications for Adaptive Abilities teams to compete in the Median or Advanced Adaptive Abilities Cheer divisions and Pom or Hip Hop Performance Cheer divisions as a US Nationals Team!! Adaptive Abilities is a team made up of at least 25% of the athletes have a disability (must be able to present the medical documentation at the ICU World Championship).

Teams selected will be among a delegation of at least 19 teams made up of hundreds of US cheerleaders and dancers. The ICU World Championships take place April 19-21, 2023 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Teams are also expected to participate in the USA Cheer Showcase Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the USA Cheer host hotel in the Orlando Florida area.

Cheer video submissions should include:

  • Interview: A 60-90 second introduction about yourself and the program. Please explain the potential makeup of the team and any pertinent information. In addition, explain why you feel you should be the selected team.
  • Cheerleading ability and skills using signs, poms or flags. Less than a minute in length.
  • 2:15 minute cheer music routine including cheer skills at a median or advanced level.
  • All female or coed.
  • Ages 12 years old and older in 2023.
  • The Head Coach should be a USA Cheer member by submission date.
  • If selected, must adhere to all USA Cheer guidelines for team, coaches and athletes.
  • Team size 16-24 members.
  • Submission Deadline for Special Olympics is November 1
  • Submission Deadline for Adaptive Abilities is October 22

Performance Cheer video submissions should include:

  • Interview: A 60-90 second introduction about yourself and program. Please explain the potential makeup of the team and any pertinent information. In addition, explain why you feel you should be the selected team.
  • 2:15 minute music routine including Pom or Hip Hop skills at a median or advanced level.
  • Optional Highlight Reel: This section can be up to 1 minute highlighting a variety of additional skills and tricks that may not be in the routine yet. *Please note that different technical skills might be allowed than what you normally compete with. Take advantage of reading rules and legality info.
  • All female/male or coed.
  • Ages 12 years old and older in 2023.
  • Head Coach should be a USA Cheer member by submission date.
  • If selected, must adhere to all USA Cheer guidelines for team, coaches and athletes.
  • Team size 16-24 members.
  • Deadline for performance cheer video submission is December 1, 2022.

Teams will be responsible for all expenses. Team expense items include, but not limited to; transportation, airport transportation, hotel costs, competition costs, uniform/costume costs, athlete apparel packages, competition packages & food. USA Cheer has fundraising ideas and a platform to assist your team with their efforts. You are welcome and encouraged to do fundraisers at home with your school/program but there will be set guidelines on what you are able to do for fundraising. Estimated costs for each athlete and/or coach are approximately $1000- $1500. (This range is estimated.)
