Basic Function:

Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, plan, organize, coordinate and coach the intercollegiate cheerleading program within the academic and athletic philosophies of NCAA DIII, Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and the University Mission Statement.

Representative Duties:

• Plan, organize, coordinate and coach an assigned University athletic sporting team program within the academic and athletic philosophies of NCAA DIII, SCIAC and the University Mission Statement; verify eligibility of student athletes according to established regulations and procedures. E

Ability To:

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; and one to three years of coaching experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Division III coaching experience in the sport preferably with a working knowledge of NCAA rules compliance. A proven ability to recruit and retain quality student-athletes. Commitment to the values, standards, and expectations of NCAA Division III athletics and a liberal arts university.

• STUNT coaching experience.
• Knowledge of NCAA DIII and SCIAC rules and regulations.
• Appreciation for and understanding of NCAA DIII athletic philosophy.
• Must maintain CPR/AED certification.

Licenses and Other Requirements:

• Valid California driver’s license.
• Possess or ability to obtain a Class C driver’s license, insurance coverage (if driving own vehicle), or be insurable.
• Possession of or ability to obtain CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), AED (automated external defibrillator), and First Aid certifications within 90 days of employment.

Physical Abilities:

Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) and hear to exchange information; ability to walk, run, jump, stretch, stand, sit, bend, twist, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; climb stairs, ropes or ladders; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision; ability to demonstrate proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation; ability to operate a vehicle to travel to various sites to conduct work; ability to maintain level of physical fitness to meet departmental standards.

As the new STUNT Head Coach, you would have full responsibility for the general supervision, recruitment, training, and administration of the varsity STUNT program.

Your primary job duties and responsibilities would include:

Has the knowledge and utilizes effective administration practices of college athletic department policy and procedures and a commitment to NCAA and conference compliance.
Establishes good rapport and generates respect among students, campus colleagues, and the local community.
Finalizes the schedule for their team games; submits schedule to the Athletic Director.
Provides effective and efficient recruiting; coordinates recruiting efforts through the Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, and Athletic offices.
Coordinates the issuance and retrieval of all the program’s equipment.
Communicates with the Head Athletic Trainer regarding player injuries, rehabilitative processes, and conditioning practices.
Monitors the academic progress of each student athlete in their program in conjunction with the Senior Assistant AD for Excellence and DEI.
Coordinates all publications that revolve around their program with the Athletic Communications office.

This position is charged with oversight of the STUNT program and fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the head coach. The individual will be hired this summer and the program will begin competition in 2025–26.

Specific responsibilities:

With the assistance of the Director of Athletics, defines and achieves annual enrollment goals of the program. Recruiting is by electronic, telephonic and in-person (travel required) means. Develops and maintains a system to identify prospective student-athletes and works closely with area high school and junior program coaches to recruit quality student-athletes. Creates a successful recruitment plan that includes a calendar, budget, contacts with prospective student athletes, and milestone check-in points. – 20%

Responsible for the overall function of the programs within conference and NCAA regulations. Represents the program and the College with any internal or external groups as needed. Completes administrative coaching responsibilities such as preparing practice and game plans, scouting opponents, academic studies follow-up with players, check-ins, etc. – 25%

Develops a competent and effective coaching staff by recruiting and hiring qualified applicants, providing guidance on departmental or College policies and coaching philosophy, encouraging professional development through participation in coaching decisions and recruiting activities, making coaching assignments based upon qualifications, supervising coaching activities, and evaluating performance. – 15%

Assumes responsibility for the retention and matriculation process for student-athletes in their athletic and academic endeavors. – 10%

Manages funds by preparing the budget and exercising authority for all expenditures related to the program. Responsible for fundraising efforts on behalf of the programs.10%

Organizes and coordinates all team travel, schedules all future contests, manages all assistant coaches within the program, monitors the program budget. Responsible for fundraising efforts on behalf of the programs.10%

Minimum Qualifications:

With the exception of games that occur during Western school breaks, the cheer team will be present at all home football, women & men’s basketball games. The cheer team will also be present at all playoff games that Western Athletics hosts, including any playoff games that may occur during official school holiday/breaks. The cheer team will also coordinate with the volleyball, soccer, and wrestling head coaches and the Athletics Facilities & Operations Coordinator to schedule home game appearances of the cheer team at 50% or more of home events.

Job Description

The Cheerleading program is seeking qualified and self-motivated applicants for a Graduate Assistant position working directly with our Division I cheerleaders. This position will provide support for the head coach that includes practices, competitions, and recruiting. This position is a two-year position with the candidate pursuing a graduate degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University-Metropolitan.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assist with team travel
• Handle social media responsibilities
• Assist coach with practice, competition preparation and execution
• Assist in organizing team meals
• Help with scheduling community service
• Help to organize camps and clinics
• Recruiting off-campus, calling recruits, email/text recruits and setting up on-campus visits
• Set up individual tutoring and learning sessions with the help of our Academic Advisor
• May participate in various fundraising, marketing, promotional and alumni relations activities
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
• Earned Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
• Excellent inter-personal communication skills
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational and computer knowledge
• Experience with collegiate cheerleading
• Prior relevant work or internship experience
• Enrollment and/or acceptance in a Fairleigh Dickinson University graduate program for Fall term 2023

Description of Position: 

Windermere Preparatory School, a private, coeducational PK–12 college preparatory school (Orlando, FL area) is seeking an assistant coach for our spirit and competitive cheer teams. Ideal candidates should possess a vision for promoting the growth of student-athletes, demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills and develop positive relationships with players, parents, school staff and the community. The WPS spirit program cheers for football and basketball and participates in competition cheer during the winter sports season. Applicants should have game day/sideline experience in football and/or basketball and have the ability to teach basic cheer skills-motions, projection, jumps, tumbling, and/or stunts.

Description of Position: 

Practice and Competition Instruction – Assist the head coach with efforts to teach student-athletes how to perform their sport. More specifically, assist with instructing individual student-athletes on the techniques and tactics of the sport, demonstrate techniques of the sport, evaluate student-athlete and team performance, teach and engage student-athletes in appropriate strength and conditioning techniques, assist with the development of practice and competition plans, scout opposing teams (if applicable to the sport) assist with the development of competition schedules that will prepare the team for conference and NCAA championship success.

Student-Athlete Academic Performance – Support student-athlete graduation by: monitoring student-athlete academic performance; implementing appropriate study hall, class checking and grade checking programs; partnering with faculty, tutors, mentors, advisors and other university staff to support the academic performance of student-athletes; and implementing appropriate practice and competition limitations as needed for student-athletes who are not performing adequately in the classroom.

Recruiting and Retention – Assist the head coach with efforts to recruit and retain prospective student-athletes who are: admissible to the university, NCAA qualifiers, good citizens who will represent the program well, motivated to graduate from Drury and excellent athletes in the sport.

Compliance – Promote an atmosphere of compliance for everyone who is directly and indirectly associated with the sport, comply with NCAA, conference and university rules and regulations.

Budget – Assist the head coach with the management of the budget so the program functions within the operating budget allocated by the university and any money raised to supplement the operating budget.

Fundraising – Collaborate with athletics department and advancement staff for fundraising events and promotional activities, assist with securing donations needed to supplement the sport operating budget as necessary.

Student-Athlete Development – Supplement the education student-athletes receive in the classroom by teaching them life skills that will help them be productive citizens for life, support student-athlete development programming conducted by the athletics department and university.

Community Engagement – Promote a positive image of the program and the university by building relationships with constituent group members and by personal and team participation in community service activities; maintain positive relations with various media outlets, community groups, university departments and athletics department staff members.

Sports Camps – Assist the head coach with the organization and implementation of sports camps as desired by the head coach.

Performs other duties as assigned.
