Memphis, Tenn., February 2015Β – USA Cheer has announced that the dance team from the University of Cincinnati has been selected as the 2015 National Dance Team and will represent the United States at the 2015 International Cheer Union (ICU) World Championship.

The ICU World Championship will take place in Orlando, Florida on April 23rd and 24th at the Walt Disney WorldΒ Resorts. More than 65 Nations will send their National teams to represent their country. The dance portion is division into two categories, Pom (Freestyle Cheer Dance) and Hip Hop. The University of Cincinnati will be competing in both categories.

“I was thrilled to hear that the University of Cincinnati was chosen for this year’s Dance Team,” says Director of the National Dance Team, Alysia Ulfers. “They have a great work ethic, pride and talent. Those qualities, coupled withΒ their positive sportsmanshipΒ at competition, makes meΒ excited to see how we can elevate their routines for the International stage. Cincinnati head coach, Kelsey Moffe, and I have similar leadership philosophies and strategies, so the transition into practicing for ICU will be seamless and something I am really looking forward to starting!”

USA Cheer is the governing body for sport cheering in the United States, these Dance and Cheer Teams representative the US National teams.Β  The National Teams have been competing at the ICU Championship for the last six years and have won a cumulative 31 gold medals.

The ICU World Championship is the largest international cheerleading and dance team competition in the world. The ICU is now comprised of more than 104 member countries.
