Collaboration enables unified reporting and ineligible list
DALLAS (December 8, 2020) – USA Cheer and U.S. All Star Federation announced today the launch of a unified athlete safety reporting process, as well as a list of temporarily and permanently ineligible individuals, which will provide a robust athlete safety infrastructure readily available across the entire cheer community.
“Athlete safety is the number one priority of USASF,” said USASF President Jim Chadwick. “Our goal always has been, and continues to be, to promote a safe, competitive atmosphere for All Star cheer and dance athletes.”
“USA Cheer members are required to have the necessary training to create safe spaces for participants to train and compete,” said USA Cheer Executive Director Lauri Harris. “We took these latest steps to ensure that our processes for reporting abuse are clear and consistent throughout the cheer community,
and to facilitate the identification of individuals deemed a potential threat to participants.”
USA Cheer also recently launched an initiative within the cheerleading community to encourage and assist participants not already formally affiliated with USA Cheer or USASF to take the steps necessary to become members. USASF adult members are required to pass a background screening, complete the U.S Center for SafeSport™ Trained course, and follow the USASF Professional Responsibility Code, which establishes principles that guide member conduct and disciplinary consequences for noncompliance.
